APPEARANCE: White to pale brown cap with rolled under margins when fully mature. Flesh is thick and tough. Lamellate, whitish pink gills on lower surface.

HABITAT: A temperate, saprophytic, wood decomposing species naturally found on decaying wood throughout North America, Europe and New Zealand.

MICROSCOPIC FEATURES: Rhizomorphic to linear mycelia; spores whitish in mass, ovoid to oblong ellipsoid; basidia tetrapolar; four haploid spores; heterothallic; hyphal system trimitic or dimitic.
